KOLLAM: Grief descended on Kerala over the death of Midhun, a class eight student who died tragically after getting electrocuted while trying to pick up his slippers that had fallen on top of the roof of the school building while playing football. The tragic incident took place around 8:30 am, moments before the classes were to begin.

Midhun died of electrocution after coming into contact with a low-lying electric wire. One of his classmates, who saw the whole tragedy unfold, recounted how Midhun was foaming at the mouth after the incident.

Midhun's family is still shocked over the sudden death of their loved one in such a tragic incident.

' I saw him leave the tuition in the morning. He said he was late for school. That is the last time I saw him,' Midhun's uncle told the media, fighting tears. Education Minister V Sivankutty has directed the Director of General Education to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident and submit a detailed report. Following the incident, KSU and ABVP have declared an educational bandh in Kollam tomorrow.
