Seduced into sex; seductress blackmails monks of crores using 80,000 nude pictures and videos

BANGKOK: A woman has been arrested for seducing Buddhist monks into having sex with her and then extorting money from them. A Thai woman named Wilawan Emsawat blackmailed monks for about 100 crores rupees by showing them 80,000 nude photos and videos. International media reports that Emsawat's bank accounts have received about 102 crore rupees in the last three years. Police say the woman had sexual relations with nine monks.

The Royal Thai Police Central Investigation Bureau said nine abbots and senior monks have been expelled from the monastery following the incident. Police arrested Wilawan Emsawat, 30, from a luxury home in Nonthaburi, north of Bangkok. After seizing the woman’s phones, investigators found messages and videos involving the monks. Police also found that the woman used the blackmail money to invest a large amount in online gambling.

The monks admitted to having an affair with Wilawan. Officers have found evidence that many of them had been in contact with the woman through social media. A monk who claimed to have been in a long-term relationship with Wilawan also revealed that he had bought a car from the woman. However, things went awry when it was discovered that Wilawan was seeing another monk. The monk said that Wilawan started demanding money after this.

Wilawan had claimed to have a child with another monk. In mid-June, the woman blackmailed him and tried to persuade him to give up monastic life. This is how the shocking news came out, according to police. The police stated that the seniority of the monks involved with the woman made the incident unusual.
