THRISSUR: A 15-year-old girl was admitted to Thrissur Medical College Hospital with Nipah virus symptoms. The girl, a native of Perinthalmanna, Malappuram, was taken to the isolation ward of the medical college last night. Hospital authorities are awaiting the test results.

Health Minister Veena George confirmed about four new Nipah cases in the state but asked people not to panic.

Meanwhile, the police have intensified surveillance in the area declared as a containment zone as part of the Nipah alert. The shopkeeper who opened his establishment outside the containment zone by deceiving officials was arrested by the police on Friday and later released on bail. Police demanded the public cooperate with them amidst concerns of the virus spreading.
