Will supervise demolition of flats, chief secretary apologizes to SC

NEW DELHI: Chief Secretary tendered an apology to the Supreme Court in connection with the demolition of the Maradu flats. The chief secretary requested to pardon him if any flaws were noticed from his side. He tendered his apology in the affidavit filed in the Supreme Court. Chief Secretary Tom Jose requested to exempt him from appearing in the court on September 23. If there is anything inappropriate on his part, I tender an apology and am liable to execute the court order, he said. With this, it is almost clear that Tom Jose will not appear in the court on the 23rd.

The chief secretary assured the court to supervise the demolition of flats. The chief secretary gave a report promising to demolish the flat. He informed the steps taken so far to demolish the flats. He submitted an affidavit containing six pages. He promised to implement Supreme Court’s order to demolish the five flats in Maradu.


However, the Chief Secretary's affidavit states that when the flats are demolished, there will be severe environmental impact. The chief secretary also explained the technical difficulties in the demolition process. Many documents were submitted in the court. The steps taken to evacuate the residents of the flat have been explained.

The government is trying to seek more time to implement the Supreme Court verdict.
