THRISSUR: Higher Education Minister R Bindu said the appointment of vice chancellor is a unilateral decision of the Governor. Bindu also accused the Governor of ignoring court rulings and making RSS loyalists vice chancellors. The government has sought legal advice on the matter. The minister said a letter will be sent to the Governor. Bindu also said that VC should be appointed from the list given by the government.

'It is being made that the government has no role in universities. Governors usually follow the government's instructions. Those with academic qualifications should become VCs. The VC of Kerala University should show democratic courtesy. The chief minister and the Governor had discussed the Kerala University issue and reached a consensus. The very next day, the Chancellor approached the Supreme Court. The government's support to the registrar will continue,' said the minister.
