Woman, who left home after losing Rs 11 lakh in online fraud, returns home

PALAKKAD: A woman, who left home from Kadampazhipuram, after becoming a victim of online fraud, has returned. Prema of Challikkal House in Alangad, returned last midnight. Her relatives said that she was in Guruvayur all these days.


She left home on September 13th. People she befriended via social media had convinced her that she had received a prize of Rs 15 crore and that she has to pay Rs 11 lakh to get it. She transferred the amount to three accounts mentioned by the fraudsters through a relative. Prema realized that she had been cheated when they demanded another Rs 5 lakh. She then left home.


The Sreekrishnapuram police had registered a case on the missing complaint of Prema. A case was also registered for online fraud. The police had received CCTV footage from Guruvayur. The police were investigating focusing this. Sreekrishnapuram SHO S Aneesh informed that a detailed statement will be taken from Prema.
