Rains to intensify in Kerala; Fishing banned along coast till October 28th

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department banned fishing for the next three days following the possibility of heavy rainfall. The Indian Meteorological Department announced that fishing should not be done off the Kerala coast from today to October 28, and off the Karnataka-Lakshadweep coast from today to October 29.

The Meteorological Department also warned of strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph and at times up to 60 kmph along the Kerala coast and adjacent sea areas.

A yellow alert was issued in various districts today in view of the possibility of rain. The yellow alert was issued for Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The possibility of isolated heavy rain is predicted. The Indian Meteorological Department defines heavy rain as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is received in 24 hours.
