AMARAVATI: The Montha cyclone, which made landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast yesterday midnight, is wreaking havoc in the state. According to reports, 1 person has died in the state. Crops spread over 1.7 lakh hectares have been damaged. The authorities have warned that 12 districts in Andhra will experience heavy rainfall on Wednesday.

Cyclone Mountha was blowing at speeds of 90 to 100 kilometres per hour. It crossed the coast between Machilipatnam and Kakinada around 12:30 a.m. After making landfall, the cyclone began to weaken. However, heavy rain continues in both Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. People from low-lying areas had been evacuated earlier.
