40-year-old arrested in Kollam for sexually assaulting minor girl in bus stop 

KOLLAM: A 40-year-old youth was taken into custody for trying to sexually assault a minor girl of class two. The Kadakkal police arrested Shaiju of Attupuram in Kollam. The incident happened when the girl was standing in the bus stop to avoid getting wet from the rain on her way back home from school. The girl was acquainted with Shaiju. Police said the accused exploited this acquaintance to commit the sexual assault.

The people residing nearby heard some commotion and ran towards her. The accused then fled and hid in the nearby bushes. The locals searched the area and caught him from a nearby mountain. On being informed, the police reached the spot and took him into custody. The police registered the girl’s statement and arrested him after imposing POCSO. Police said that he will be produced in the court.
