
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have got the CCTV footage of the woman being pushed out of a moving train in Varkala. The police got the footage from Kerala Express. Police said the two women can be seen sitting near the door of the train in the footage. Suresh Kumar, the accused is also seen pushing the woman in the footage. The accused is also seen trying to harass the second woman in the footage.
The condition of Sreekutty of Palode in Thiruvananthapuram, who was pushed out from the train, continues to be critical. The woman is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. She suffered serious head and spine injuries. She has more than twenty injuries all over her body and has not regained consciousness. A medical board meeting was convened this morning to assess her health condition. Experts from the Neurology and Neurosurgery departments examined Sreekutty. It is assessed that her head injury is serious. Efforts are presently underway to reduce the pressure on the head.
The accused Suresh Kumar of Panachamood is in police custody. The incident happened on Saturday at 8.30 pm. Sreekutty, a passenger in the SLR coach of Kerala Express, was kicked from behind. Sreekutty and Archana boarded the general compartment from Aluva. Both are fellow passengers.
The accused boarded the train from Kottayam. He was drunk and had been misbehaving since he boarded the train. Sreekutty and Archana went to the toilet when the train left Varkala. Archana went to the toilet first. Sreekutty was standing near the door. The accused reached there. He asked her to move from there, but she refused and this led to a dispute. Sreekutty, who was looking outside, was kicked from behind.
