KOLLAM: “If anything happens to my life, this Medical College Hospital is responsible..." This was the final voice message sent by Venu, a native of Kollam Panmana, who died without receiving proper treatment in the hospital. Venu sent this voice message to his classmate and fire force officer Anwar Sadat hours before he died. Venu requested his friend to make public this voice note if something worse were to happen to his life.
Entire details from the voice message:
“There is total corruption in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. Everything you see on social media is true. If you ask the people in uniform anything, they won't say a word. We should not even expect the care that a mangy street dog gets occasionally. Bribery is crossing all boundaries inside the hospital. I arrived on Friday evening for an emergency angiogram by seeking the service of an ambulance that drove at high speed to get me here. It's been five days since I arrived, and I don't understand the indifference being shown to me.
I asked the doctor who came for rounds several times when my treatment would be done. He did not give any answer. I don’t even know if that silence was an implicit message demanding bribes. The hospital, which should be the biggest refuge of the common people, is becoming a paradise for corruption. People, before dying pathetically here, would curse this hospital and would wish to see it go down in ruins. If something happens to my life, please inform the world about the reality through my own voice.”
