Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, known for her film roles and her striking appearances at the Cannes Film Festival, often surprises her fans. Many people in India eagerly wait to see her looks at Cannes. Along with praise, the actress also faces a lot of criticism. Now, Bollywood actress Renuka Shahane has spoken out against those who engage in cyberbullying targeting Aishwarya Rai.
“Aishwarya has been a global brand ambassador for L’Oréal for many years. Every time, she represents Indians at Cannes. But people keep saying that the clothes she wears are not right. Please don’t do that. If you have anything nice to say, it’s better to keep quiet,” said Renuka Shahane. She added that people who expect a woman to remain as slim as before after becoming a mother are the ones criticising Aishwarya, and this is not right. After the birth of her daughter Aaradhya, Aishwarya faced constant trolling. Her husband, actor Abhishek Bachchan, had also reacted to the criticism, saying that people forget that Aishwarya is a mother and a woman.
Aishwarya has been attending the Cannes Film Festival since 2002. She first appeared for the premiere of the film Devdas, along with Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Her first Cannes outfit was a yellow saree designed by costume designer Neeta Lulla. At Cannes 2025, Aishwarya caught attention with two notable looks—first, a Banarasi saree with bold sindoor designed by Manish Malhotra, and second, a black velvet gown designed by Gaurav Gupta. She received criticism for these outfits as well.
