PALAKKAD: It is alleged that most of the BJP candidates in the Palakkad Municipality list are members from BJP state vice president C. Krishnakumar’s faction. BJP Palakkad East district president Prashant Sivan and councillor Krishnakumar's wife Mini Krishnakumar are also in the list of candidates. There is also an allegation that chairperson Pramila Sasidharan, vice chairman E. Krishnadas and senior leader N. Sivarajan were not included in the probable list of candidates. N Sivarajan approached the RSS leadership after being denied the seat. A section had come forward demanding that Sivarajan not be allowed a seat due to his ailing health.

There is also criticism that Pramila Sasidharan and others were not consulted regarding the selection of candidates. Disputes continue in many seats. Meanwhile, Palakkad in-charge KK Aneesh Kumar and others have intervened in the matter.

  • The state leadership is unlikely to accept the list of candidates from C Krishnakumar faction.

  • The Krishnakumar faction is demanding that Pramila Sasidharan, who shared the stage with ill-famed MLA Rahul Mamkootatahil, should not be given a seat and that she be expelled from the party.

  • Cyber abuse is also continuing against former municipal chairperson Priya Ajayan, who decided to end her political career and made this announcement public through a Facebook post.
