
NEW DELHI: The police confirmed that the car that exploded near the Red Fort was driven by Dr Umar Nabi. Reports say Umar's DNA has been identified from the debris found in the exploded car. The police had earlier taken Umar's mother and brother into custody for DNA tests. The car that exploded was a white Hyundai i20 car. The police had recovered bones, teeth and pieces of cloth from it. The DNA was identified from this.
The CCTV footage of Umar driving the car had emerged earlier. Umar is a native of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir. He was working as a doctor at Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad. Umar's father was a teacher in a government school. It is also reported that Umar had quit his job years ago due to mental issues. He has two brothers and an elder sister at home.

Meantime, new footage of the explosion has been released. It shows a white Hyundai i20 car exploding on a busy road. The footage is from a traffic camera installed near Gate No 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station.
