When Malayalis think of shopping malls, the first name that usually comes to mind is Lulu Mall. This recognition is largely due to the brand’s strong presence in the Gulf region, where a significant Malayali population resides. In Kerala, the Lulu Group currently operates eight malls, including major centres in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. Now, under the leadership of M.A. Yusuffali, the group is preparing to launch another large-scale shopping destination within the next three years.
The upcoming mall- expected to create around 17,000 direct and indirect jobs by 2028- will be located in Andhra Pradesh, not Kerala. The Lulu Group has announced that the new project will be one of its biggest developments. With this, the company has officially begun rolling out several large investments in the state.
The announcement was made during the CII Partnership Summit by Lulu Group Chairman M.A. Yusuff Ali. In addition to the new mall, the company plans to establish a food processing and export centre in Vijayawada’s Mallavalli area and a major logistics and export hub in the Rayalaseema region. Yusuff Ali presented the memorandum of understanding for these ventures to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
According to Yusuff Ali, construction of the new mall will begin this week, with operations expected to commence within three years. He added that the upcoming project will be among the largest malls in the state.
