Actor and Union Minister Suresh Gopi has revealed that becoming active in politics has seriously affected his film career. Suresh Gopi said that many of his films that should have received awards have not reached New Delhi, crossing the Kerala barrier and that he personally knows two jury members who are blocking this. He was speaking after attending a private function.
"After I praised Modi in 2014, none of my films from Kerala were submitted to the Centre for an award. Many times my films were deliberately excluded," says Suresh Gopi. "The central jury did not consider my films because I was a Union Minister. I am proud of the Central Government for that. I have never applied for the Padma Award. However, I have recommended it for many people," the actor said.
Suresh Gopi had said last month that his film career and income were disrupted due to his active involvement in politics. He had said that his income had stopped after taking over as a Union Minister. Suresh Gopi had requested that Rajya Sabha member C Sadanandan be made a Union Minister instead of him, as he wanted to continue acting in films. He revealed his wish while speaking at a public function in Kannur.
"I want to continue acting. I want to earn more, currently my income has completely stopped. I am the youngest member of the party. Rajya Sabha MP C. Sadanandan Master should be made a Union Minister in my place," Suresh Gopi clarified.
