Rajshri Nair is a South Indian actress who became popular among Malayalees with her debut movie Meghasandesam. Her character as the evil spirit Rosy received much acceptance, and the movie also ended up as a hit in the year 2001.
After a big hiatus, Rajshri is returning to Malayalam with 'Vilayath Buddha', starring Prithviraj in the lead role. Although the actress is active in Tamil and Telugu, her last Malayalam film was ‘Jamnapyari’, released almost a decade ago.
Rajshri, in a recent interview, talked about her Malayalam debut and the special bond she cherishes with Samyuktha Varma.
Rajshri Nair:
"I often see trolls related to the movie Meghasandesam. I enjoy it. Malayalees will immediately understand me for the role I played in the movie. I did not do any films in Malayalam for ten years because there were no good opportunities. This led me to focus more on Telugu instead.
I hope to get good roles in Malayalam after Vilayathu Buddha. I started acting at the age of sixteen. That is how I earned pocket money at that time. Later, I became the heroine in the movie Meghasandesam. I was shocked when the crew gave me casual dresses to wear. During those times, it was perceived that ghosts would not wear anything other than white sarees. The movie brought a welcome change.
I was a newcomer and enjoyed doing the film so much that I even asked permission to watch the shooting of the stunt scene, which I was not part of. I was portrayed very beautifully in Meghasandesam. Actress Samyuktha Varma, who played another character in that film, is my relative.
Meghasandesam was the first film I did with Samyuktha. We became really close after that, which involved discussing everything and travelling often. I live in Hyderabad. Whenever I come to Kerala, I spend at least two days with Samyuktha. My son and Samyuktha's son are good friends. Moreover, my brother is married to Samyuktha's sister. We were not aware of their relationship. They would spend time together, behind our backs. When I came to know that they were in love, I got them married."
