Bollywood actress Kajol has drawn criticism from netizens for her recent remark that marriages should have an expiry date. She made the remark on the show Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle. During an episode featuring Vicky Kaushal and Kriti Sanon as guests, Kajol suggested that having an expiration date, along with the option to renew, could reduce the pressure couples feel.
"How can anyone be sure they are marrying the right person? If there is an expiry date, we won't have to struggle so much. There should also be an option to renew it," Kajol said. Twinkle Khanna, however, strongly disagreed, responding, "This is a marriage, not a washing machine."
Kajol’s remark quickly caught the attention of social media users. Some speculated that she spoke this way because her own marriage might be troubled, with a few commenters suggesting that if she was unhappy, she should simply get a divorce. Others felt that her perspective was reasonable, arguing that relationships naturally change over time and may require new choices. Experts note that when partners cannot adapt to these changes, making new decisions may indeed be the healthier option.
