
GUWAHATI: India faced a crushing defeat in the second Test against South Africa, losing by a huge margin of 408 runs. Set a target of 549, the Indian team collapsed for just 140. South Africa, who had already secured a 30-run victory in the opening Test in Kolkata, clinched the series with this win. This marks the first time the Proteas have completed a clean sweep in a Test series on Indian soil.
Ravindra Jadeja was the lone standout performer for India, scoring a fighting 54 off 87 deliveries. Earlier, South Africa had put up a strong total of 489 in their first innings, while India managed only 201 in reply on the third day of the match.
