PATHANAMTHITTA: Akhil Omanakuttan, the former Youth Congress state secretary, who joined BJP from Congress a week ago, returned to the Congress camp. While talking with journalists, Akhil said he could not recollect the events that led to his joining BJP and said he will henceforth be a loyal worker of the grand old party.

On November 19th, Kunnamthanam native Akhil was welcomed to BJP after district president V A Sooraj adorned him with a shawl at an event organised in Kunnamthanam. Sooraj said Akhil was impressed by BJP’s politics of development that made him join the saffron party. A video was also doing the rounds showing Akhil announcing his resignation from all posts he held with Congress.

While responding to the incident now, Akhil said he was caught unaware when a few BJP workers adorned him with a shawl, as he took the whole incident as a joke and nothing beyond that. Akhil alleged that BJP used a heinous tactic to portray him as a Modi supporter.
