
KOZHIKODE: Complaint alleging that senior beat up a second –year BCom student. The incident happened in a private college at Perambra in Kozhikode. The assault was targeted at a second-year BCom finance student Mohammed Shakir. The student is under treatment in a private hospital now. Shakir has a fractured bone below his right eye and doctors have recommended surgery, said his family.
There was a dispute between senior and junior students at the college parking area. At that time, Muhammad Shakir came there to put a book in his scooter. One of the senior students yelled profanity at him then. Muhammad Shakir said that he was attacked for questioning his seniors' behaviour.
The family said that a complaint has been filed in this regard at the Perambra police station. However, the police's response is that no such complaint has been received. Four students have been suspended from the college in connection with the incident. The disciplinary action was taken by the college staff council meeting.
