Chargesheet filed against Beylin Das in case of assaulting advocate Shyamili

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have filed chargesheet in the case of assaulting a young lawyer in Vanchiyoor. The Vanchiyoor police have filed the chargesheet against senior lawyer Beylin Das in the case. The charges imposed on him include assault, insulting womanhood, voluntarily causing hurt and outraging the woman’s modesty. She was assaulted amidst a dispute between junior advocates. The incident happened on May 13.

Beylin Das, who absconded after the incident, was caught on the third day. He was caught by Thumba police from near Station Kadavu in the Puthenvelikara police station. Shyamili had complained that Beylin Das attacked her with a mop stick at the office in the Maharani Building, Vanchiyoor at 12:30 pm on the day of the incident. There was an argument between Beylin Das and the lawyer in the morning and in fit of rage, he beat the woman.

Shyamili had said that she first fell down after being assaulted and then he made her stand up and attacked her again. The complainant had given a statement to the police that none of the witnesses objected. Shyamili later sought treatment at the General Hospital.
