KANNUR: Former MLA and senior CPI leader M V Jayarajan said the election result in Kerala was unexpected. He also said that it is necessary to closely examine why the LDF suffered a setback in Kerala. M V Jayarajan was reacting to the release of the local body election results.

"The LDF's activities will be shaped by understanding the will of the people in the future. If we look at it in general, the result is unexpected. Not many would have expected such a turn of tides. The growth of the BJP in Kerala is dangerous. Their ideology is to divide and rule. They strive for a theocratic state. This is not practical in a country that embraces secularism.

We will try to study what made people favour BJP in this manner. We need to carefully examine why the LDF suffered a setback in Kerala. There should not be much buzz over the innocuous statements made by M M Mani. I feel there might have been some issues in convincing people of what the left government did for them."

MM Mani had earlier blamed the voters for availing all benefits from the LDF government and stabbing them in the back during elections.
