Justice Soumen Sen likely to become Chief Justice of Kerala High Court

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended to the Central government the appointment of Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice Soumen Sen as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. The recommendation comes as current Chief Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar is set to retire on January 9, 2026. The Collegium has also recommended the appointment of Justice A Muhamed Mustaque of the Kerala High Court as the Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court.

Justice Soumen Sen is a native of Kolkata. He was appointed as a judge of the Calcutta High Court in April 2011 and assumed charge as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court on October 8 last year. Justice A Muhamed Mustaque is the second in seniority at the Kerala High Court. He hails from Thana in Kannur district and was appointed as a judge of the Kerala High Court on January 23, 2014. He has also served as the Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.
