KANNUR: T K Rajeesh, the fourth accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case, has been granted parole again. He has been granted parole for 20 days. He has to return to jail on January 10. This is the second time in three months parole is being granted to him.

Parole has been granted with the condition that he should not enter Kannur and Kozhikode. Rajeesh was granted parole for 30 days from August 1 in the murder case. After returning to jail, he was undergoing treatment at the Kannur Ayurveda Hospital for a month and a half. He returned to jail on December 7 after treatment.

Rajeesh has been granted parole twice in three months after evidence emerged that DIG Vinod Kumar of the prison had taken bribes to grant parole to convicts in the TP murder case, including Kodi Suni, as per their requirements. Vigilance had found that DIG Vinod Kumar was receiving lakhs from the relatives of the prisoners for parole and to provide facilities in the prison.

Rajeesh, who belongs to Kannur, has given his address of Ernakulam in the jail. Therefore, he is not allowed to leave Ernakulam. TP murder case accused Kodi Suni was granted parole for 60 days in seven months. The prison department granted Suni three paroles from December to July 2024.

The inclusion of TP murder case accused in the list of prisoners to be given special remission as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsavam had sparked a major controversy.
