THRISSUR: Three people were arrested in connection with sharing a video revealing the name of the victim in the actress assault case. The Thrissur City Police team arrested three people, including those who uploaded Martin’s video on Facebook pages on a commercial basis. Martin is the second accused in the actress assault case.
The police found that all three, natives of Ernakulam, Alappuzha and Thrissur, had shared the video with malicious intent after receiving money. A case was registered under sections 72 and 75 of the BNSS and non-bailable sections, including section 67 of the IT Act.
The investigation found that the video was circulated on more than 200 websites. The cyber wing of the police took down the videos from all sites on the internet. The police said that the video, which was widely circulated after the verdict in the case, is defamatory and illegal.
Thrissur City Police Commissioner Nakul Deshmukh warned of strict action against those sharing the video on social media. The police also warned that such acts violating the privacy of the victim are punishable by law.
