Sanitation worker gets bag from road containing gold of 45 lakhs, returns, CM felicitates

CHENNAI: A 48-year-old sanitary worker returned gold ornaments worth Rs 45 lakhs found on the road to their owners. Padma found the bag while cleaning the road. When she opened it, she found the gold ornaments inside it.

She later handed over the bag to the Pondy Bazaar police station. The police then inspected it and started tracing the owners. The bag belongs to Ramesh of Nanganallur.

Ramesh had earlier filed a complaint that the bag containing gold ornaments was missing. After investigation, the police handed over the bag to the owner. Praising Padma's exemplary behavior, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin gave her Rs 1 lakh as a token of appreciation.
