THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has allotted land to the K M Mani Foundation aiming to preserve the memory of former finance minister K M Mani. The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting convened here today. Permission was given to lease 25 cents of land in Kowdiar, the main hub of the city, for 30 years.

There were speculations that the Mani Group might leave the LDF ahead of the upcoming assembly elections following the setback suffered by the Left in the local body elections. There were also reports that unofficial discussions were held in this regard. However, in the press meet convened here today, party chairman Jose K Mani made it clear that they would remain firmly with the Left.

Along with allotting land to K M Mani Foundation, land has also been allotted to the Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Memorial Study and Research Centre. 1.139 acres of land is being leased out for the establishment of the Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Memorial Study and Research Centre at Vadikkakam in Thalassery. The lease will be for 30 years.
