KOCHI: Renowned painter Bose Krishnamachari resigned from the Kochi Biennale Foundation. He was the president of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale and a member of the foundation trust. Foundation chairperson Dr V Venu said that Bose resigned due to family reasons.
Krishnamachari played the catalyst in starting the Kochi Muziris Biennale, an exhibition of contemporary art. He was the co-curator of the first biennale in 2012. Over the years, he became the face of the Biennale and also manoeuvred efficiently, bringing massive crowds across the globe to Kochi every Biennale season.
Venu said that steps have been taken to find a possible replacement for the post of president of the Kochi Muziris Biennale. Krishnamachari, a native of Aluva Desom, is based in Mumbai. Krishnamachari and Riyas Komu jointly took the helm to organise the biennale on the model of foreign countries. Riyas had earlier resigned from the foundation.
