
KANNUR: Shimjitha Mustafa, who was arrested in Kozhikode native Deepak’s suicide, filed a complaint last night through an email to Payyannur police. The police started an investigation into the complaint.
From Shimjitha's complaint:
On the morning of the incident, she boarded a bus from Payyannur railway station. While travelling in the bus to Payyannur, a man touched her inappropriately. She then filmed the video and posted it on social media.
In the complaint, the identity of the man is not revealed.
Shimjitha Mustafa is currently in remand after she was arrested from her sister's house in Muttungal West, Vadakara, by the Kozhikode Medical College Police yesterday afternoon. Shimjita had gone into hiding after a case of abetment to suicide was registered on the complaint of Deepak's mother. The police had issued a lookout notice against Shimjitha due to her foreign connections. She was arrested during an investigation following a tip-off that she was in Vadakara.
Shimjitha was produced before the Kunnamangalam First Class Magistrate Court after undergoing a medical examination at Koyilandy Taluk Hospital. She was then remanded for 14 days and sent to Manjeri Women's Jail.
