Meena Durairaj, the yesteryear dame who ruled the South industry with her sylphlike features and acting prowess, will soon return to Malayalam through the third instalment of thriller franchise 'Drishyam'. The film will hit the theatres on April 2. Meena, in a recent interview, recounted how she missed many superhit movies due to date issues.
MEENA:
“I was offered Mohanlal-Mammootty's ‘Harikrishnans’, ‘Thevarmagan’ and Padayappa, but could not do any of these due to date issues. There are many other movies like that. It is impossible to commit to all movies. However, I felt pangs of regret and disappointment when many of these movies ended as super hits. I could have been part of that success, but it is always wise to accept reality.
When I was offered the movie ‘Bro Daddy’, I was curious to know about the character. It was only then that the makers told me I was to play the mother role of actor Prithviraj. I was shocked and even expressed my concern to producer Antony. I was not ready to play the mother role of an actor who was just six years younger than me.
However, the script and the theme impressed me greatly, and I said yes to the project. I am sure that it was only because the makers were able to convince me that I did the role. When the movie was out, people were all praise for my role. The age difference didn’t show, and the casting seemed perfect. All credits should go to Prithviraj. His dedication to work is commendable. He wastes no time and is certain of what he wants. This made him the great actor and director that he is now”
