
KATTAKADA: The Kumbichalkadavu Bridge was the dream of more than a thousand families living in 11 villages of Thodumala ward in Amboori panchayat. Today, the families are happy as their long-stalled dream is turning true. The Chief Minister will dedicate the bridge to the nation this month, with only the finishing touches remaining. The sky-high mountains, the abundantly flowing Neyyar, and the beauty of the forest and the scenic landscape. There is a reason why YouTubers are flocking to this spot these days.
Even before its inauguration, the Kumbichalkadavu Bridge is going viral on social media. Ice cream vendors and cloth merchants have found new business in the picturesque spot.
The bridge was completed thanks to the efforts of MLA CK Harindranath. The locals are preparing a feast for the guests arriving on the inauguration day. It is also estimated that the bridge will be very beneficial for those coming from urban terrains to learn more about the traditional art forms of the tribe. The project has been completed after much uncertainty.
Signal marking has begun on the top of the bridge and on the tarred part of the approach road. Work on utility ducts has been completed. Footpaths have also been laid on the bridge and approach road. Construction of the path leading down to the reservoir from the sides of the bridge has also been completed. Two-wheeler travel has been allowed across the bridge for nearby residents and forest dwellers living in various villages. Locals and students who used to depend on ferries now travel via the bridge. The bridge connects various inland villages. The construction cost was Rs. 19 crore, taken from KIIFB funds. This bridge, built across the Neyyar water body, is 253.4 meters long and 11 meters wide.
