Cobra found inside second-floor toilet: How do snakes reach upper floors?

There are several reasons why snakes enter houses. Unclean surroundings and keeping things scattered inside the house attract snakes. Once snakes settle in an area, it is not easy to drive them away. This is why it is very important to keep both the inside and outside of the house clean.

A recent incident of a cobra being found inside a toilet on the upper floor of a house has caused concern. Although snakes are known to climb, it is not common for them to reach the second floor of houses. Snakes cannot crawl up smooth, painted exterior walls of houses. They also cannot enter houses through PVC pipes.

Usually, snakes enter houses through the lower floors. They come in through open doors and windows. The same can happen on upper floors as well. Many people leave windows open, believing that snakes cannot reach upper floors. However, snakes can climb trees. If tree branches lean close to a house, snakes can crawl along the rough surface of the tree and easily enter upper-floor rooms through windows.
