KOCHI: The SIT of the Criminal Investigation Department will unravel the mystery behind the death of Confident Group founder and chairman Dr CJ Roy. The billionaire, with investments and businesses in various countries, including the UAE, committed suicide by shooting himself during a raid by the Central Income Tax Department (IT). The magnitude of the case was such that the Karnataka government had to quickly hand over the case to the SIT. It is indicated that an extensive investigation will be required, including in the real estate sector.
There are indications that the names of two influential MLAs of Kerala, a former MP, and famous actresses and models of South India are mentioned in Roy’s diary. Local media reported that Roy wrote about the businesses in Dubai and his connections with influential people in this dairy. There are indications that he also mentioned business connections with MLAs in Bengaluru and the Kolar district. The move is to conduct a thorough investigation by taking the statements of the IT officials and all those mentioned in the diary.
IT employees unofficially said that Roy even wrote a statement that he was under no pressure. Roy's statement was recorded on Thursday. Department sources also explain that the proceedings were conducted in the presence of another witness. Officials said that they will cooperate with any investigation. The raid was conducted by an eight-member Income Tax team from Kochi. The raid was conducted after serving a notice and summoning Roy from Dubai.
