PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s convoy will soon include Range Rover SUVs. The vehicle is similar to the official car used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As per reports, four Range Rover SUVs will be added to the Chief Minister’s motorcade. The Bihar government is purchasing the Range Rover vehicles at a cost of Rs 2.79 crore each. A total of Rs 11.17 crore has been sanctioned for the purchase.
The government had decided in July 2025 to buy a Range Rover for the Chief Minister. Instructions have now been given to speed up the process. The move is part of efforts to strengthen the Chief Minister’s security. The Range Rover is considered one of the safest vehicles in the world. According to reports, the SUVs will have advanced security features, including bulletproof protection. Officials said the vehicles are expected to arrive soon and will be added to the convoy after completing necessary security checks.
At present, Nitish Kumar uses a Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric vehicle, worth over Rs 50 lakh, for travel within the state capital Patna. For trips outside the capital, he uses a bulletproof Tata Safari. The Bihar Home Department had also recently purchased four bulletproof Toyota Fortuner vehicles.
