Uncle hacking niece's hand over parking dispute; absconding accused Manikuttan arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The uncle who hacked the hand of his niece in a dispute over parking a scooter in Kilimanoor has been arrested. The absconding accused who was caught is Manikuttan, of Vishnu Bhavan, Ponganadu Pazhaya Chantha. The accused hacked the hands of his niece Sindhu on Friday morning during an argument over a way dispute. The absconding accused was taken into custody by the police from near the Attingal bus stand yesterday.

The way to Sindhu's house passes near Manikuttan's house. Sindhu parks her scooter on this path. The accused claimed that he could not go to his house due to this. The disputes related to this culminated in violence. After Sindhu was hacked on her hand, relatives and locals came running after hearing her screams. They first admitted Sindhu to a private hospital and then to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. Sindhu underwent surgery due to deep cuts on her hands and severed nerves.
