KUNIYA: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the society is duty-bound to stand in solidarity with those marginalised regardless of their caste, language, dress or faith. The chief minister called for the need to strengthen religious harmony to fight communalism and religious-political arguments. He was speaking at the concluding general assembly of the 100th international conference of Samastha at Kuniya, Kasaragod.
“Samastha can take pride in standing firm against terrorism and extremism, and in strengthening secularism and the culture of the country to a great extent. Samastha's stance that communalism can only be fought with a secular stance gives hope in the current social climate.
Samastha was able to mobilise both the minority population and those who follow religious ideology to stand together and defend themselves. At a time when the European Renaissance failed, Samastha moved towards educational progress and scientific enlightenment for the renaissance of the Muslim community.” The Chief Minister also said that Samastha mobilised the people together for the anti-invasion struggle.
The Chief Minister began and ended his speech by adulating Samastha President Sayyid Muhammad Jifri Muthukoya Thangal.
“I agree with the sentiments expressed by Jifri Thangal. He shares the hope of leading the community. He is fulfilling the mission entrusted to him,” the Chief Minister said.
