The body and life are like pearls and shells. The body, which is as transient as a shell, can perish at any moment, but life, which is a part of the Supreme Soul, will shine again in many forms. The ten-month-old baby angel named Alin Sherin, who is still alive through four people through organ donation, will be a divine star of love. Alin Sherin, the only daughter of Arun Abraham and Sherin John of Mallappally, is the youngest organ donor of Kerala. Sherin's death is a tragedy that has been on everyone's mind since she passed away before she even celebrated her first birthday.
Alin Sherin, who was seriously injured in a car accident in Kottayam, was undergoing treatment at Amrita Hospital. Sherin, a teacher, was returning from a graduation ceremony in Kottayam. Arun runs an Akshaya Centre in Mallappally. Although in pain, the parents and relatives realised that the baby injured in the unexpected accident would not return to life. The great words of dedicating one's own for the benefit of others and the life of the loving Christ led them to lofty thoughts. The desire to make their only daughter live again through others also motivated them to make such a great sacrifice.
The donated heart valve of Alin Sherin was taken to the Sree Chitra Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, the liver to KIMS Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, and the kidney to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. The eyes were transferred to the eye bank of Amrita Hospital. The organ donation process was coordinated through the government organisation K-SOTTO with the consent of the child's father. In the morning, a specially equipped ambulance with the organs left Amrita for Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. Varghese Yeldho of KIMS Hospital also accompanied the ambulance.
It would normally take about six hours to reach Thiruvananthapuram. With the help of a police escort and the cooperation of the locals, the ambulance driver, Jaganeesh, a native of Mala, was able to reach the destination in 3 hours and 27 minutes. Although road construction was going on in many places, the people saw this mission as their own business.
There are a large number of people who suffer due to not getting organs in time. They realise that no amount of money, fame or power can replace an organ. One will bow down to nature and the invisible power when one realises that one's own body organs are the greatest gift that nature has bestowed upon them.
Although everyone talks and spreads the glory of organ donation, many people turn their backs when the opportunity arises. The reason for this is misconceptions and unreasonable fear. The example of organ donation by people like Sherin can help change that. Alin Sherin's liver will benefit Driya, the second child of Baiju Kumar and Vidya, natives of Neyyattinkara. Baiju, a wage labourer, had decided to donate his liver. The day for the tests and surgery was also set. It was then that the generosity of Sherin's parents, who are full of compassion, came to Driya's aid. It gave new life to four people. All those who donate organs for others are good souls. Their love and sacrifice will continue to illuminate this world.
