KOZHIKODE: Doctors say that the woman who stole the gold necklace from a child's neck in Nilambur has also swallowed a gold earring. The gold earring was found in the stomach of the woman who was under observation at the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital.

Sameena (35), who stole and swallowed a 3.5-gram gold necklace from a child's neck, was admitted to the medical college last Thursday. An X-ray examination conducted to recover the necklace revealed that a gold earring was also in her stomach. The medical college doctors confirmed this. They suspect that it is Sameena's earring.

It is reported that the woman swallowed her earring to make it look like she had swallowed her own gold and not the child's gold necklace. The attempt to retrieve the necklace by enema was unsuccessful on Saturday as well. The accused, who was produced in court and remanded, was taken into police custody to gather evidence. The woman, who completed her remand period, was transferred to Manjeri Sub-Jail.
