KOCHI: Women in Cinema Collective will organise a program called "Avalkoppam" in three cities to show solidarity with the victim of the actress assault case. February 17th will mark nine years since the attack on the actress. The WCC program will be held at 6 pm at Manaveeyam Veedhi in Thiruvananthapuram, Abdul Kalam Marg in Marine Drive in Ernakulam, and Mananchira Open Stage in Kozhikode. The attack on the actress took place on February 17, 2017.

WCC social media post:

February 17, 2017, left the sharpest scar. Yet, it was the same day she courageously spoke up against her violators. That one step inspired us to stand with her in the fight for justice, giving birth to the #Avalkoppam movement.

Over the past 9 years, the movement has imparted courage to victims, transforming them to survivors. In small but significant ways, it has aided the social transformation happening in Kerala.

Thanking everyone for the support and solidarity, WCC invites everyone who stands with her and all the survivors to gather and hold a candle to commemorate this journey.

Together, let us shine light in the dark corners.
