THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The inauguration of the first phase of the township built for the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide victims in Wayanad has been rescheduled. The event, which was earlier planned for February 25, will now be held on March 1 at 3 PM. The decision was taken considering the demand that the day of the inauguration should be a public holiday. The government also aims to complete the procedures before the election code of conduct comes into force.
This township is part of the rehabilitation project for families who completely lost their homes in the disaster. The first phase of the project has now been completed, and houses will be handed over to 178 families included in Phase 1. Along with the key handover, land ownership documents will also be distributed to the beneficiaries by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The township is becoming a reality, bringing relief to victims who have been waiting for a long time.
