KOCHI: Former Travancore Devaswom Board President N Vasu appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft case. Vasu appeared for questioning at the zonal office in Kochi. The Special Investigation Team had earlier included him in the list of accused following the discovery that he had signed crucial documents related to the gold robbery.
The ED had issued notices to N Vasu and the Thantri to appear in the case in the first week of March. The ED's action comes after N Vasu, who was in jail for three months, was granted bail by the court. There are indications that more crucial moves will be made in the case in the coming days.
After N Vasu, the ED will also question the Thantri. No notice has been issued to Unnikrishnan Potty, the first accused in the case. The investigation will reach him only after questioning the other accused. The ED earlier questioned actor Jayaram, who is on the witness list in the case. A total of 28 people have been included in the ED's list of accused. Eight people are on the witness list.
ED had already taken steps to freeze the assets of N Vasu and others after the accused in the case were arrested earlier. This is the latest step in the ongoing direct questioning process. The ED will summon each of the accused on the list in the coming days.
