KOCHI: A report mentioned no lapse on the part of police in arresting the culprit in the Angamaly hit-and-run case. The report says that a proper investigation was conducted to arrest the accused, Dr Cyriac George and the procedures were followed properly. It was also mentioned that the accused escaped by tricking the police.

Jasliya's family had complained that the police were negligent in arresting the accused. On the instructions of the Rural SP, the Aluva DySP conducted an investigation and submitted a report.

On the 28th of last month, B. Com student Jasliya was hit by a car driven by Cyriac. The student died the next day while undergoing treatment. The police were criticised for not being able to catch the absconding accused. With this, a lookout notice was issued, and later, the police arrested Cyriac from Vagamon.

The police intensified their efforts to arrest the accused after Jasliya's friends and family intensified their protests. The family expressed relief at the arrest and demanded that the accused be given the maximum punishment.
