NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party released the first list of 47 candidates for the upcoming assembly polls in Kerala. The party included seven women candidates in the first list, while former party chief K Surendran and present chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar found a place in the list.
As usual, the central leadership, from New Delhi, released the list that only includes A-plus constituencies where the party will field heavyweights. Rajeev is all set to contest from Nemom, the BJP’s most winnable seat in the state. K Surendran, meanwhile, will yet again try his luck from Manjeshwar, where a win evaded him twice, though by a wafer-thin margin. Sobha Surendran, BJP’s most popular leader by a mile, will contest this election from Palakkad.
Padmaja Venugopal, former Congress leader and daughter of veteran K Karunakaran, is fielded in Thrissur, while BJP councillor and former DGP Sreelekha will contest from Vattiyoorkavu, where a three-way contest is on the cards.
