1252 temples in Kerala would have been destroyed at BJP's call

padma-kumar

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Travancore Devaswom Board President A Padma Kumar said that he had tried to protect the government and the party at the time of a crisis and when faced personal criticisms. There is no other government that has helped temples like this, said Padma Kumar relieving on November 14th from the post of devaswom board president.

Padma Kumar said that he is not scared of the campaign by Sangh Parivar forces against him. It is not a matter of equality between men and women in Sabarimala. The conditions block the entry of women there. I don’t personally agree with women entering the holy shrine. But, some circulated that I am against renaissance. I am part of an organisation for the past 47 years. I have never adopted a policy tarnishing the image of the party or those who have entrusted me with this charge. Pinarayi Vijayan is one of the most misunderstood chief ministers in Kerala. The congress and the BJP have concocted many fake stories against him. The only thing I had in mind was that either the government or the party should not be stained. So all that came against the government turned towards me.

There is no other government in the history of the Travancore Devaswom Board that has helped us. The CM has been a big help to even small things. The BJP's call for refusal of hundi would have destroyed 1252 temples in Kerala. The life of almost six thousand employees and that much pensioners would have been confused. This government permitted 1253 crore for various construction activities in Sabarimala. The chief minister does each thing carefully but no one understands him. Without the support of the party, I wouldn’t have been able to hold on. The LDF got a prestigious victory in the by-election as they faced it after understanding their flaws in the parliament elections. The chief minister had just asserted that the court verdict in Sabarimala will be executed. Where is the BJP who promised to bring in a legislation if assumed to power? The centre has enough fund to help the temples and did they help? They cconsistently took a hostile stand and the people should recognize it.
