KSEB to power e-revolution by setting up charging stations; Drive 150 km for Rs 100

charging-stations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Paving the road to an electric revolution, e-charging stations will be set across the state under KSEB. The board has prepared the roadmap to open about 70 charging stations.

Individuals can also open stations after obtaining NOC from an electrical inspector. Existing petrol pumps can also open charging stations if there is enough space.

As per information, consumers will get one unit of electricity for Rs. 5.

The KSEB charging stations will be set up with the assistance of the central government. The centre has directed to open charging stations in cities with over one lakh people. Such stations will open first in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Kannur.

With the help of private agencies, 63 more stations will be opened in different districts. 17 companies have already expressed interest in this.

The electric capacity of the existing electric cars is in the range of 16 to 20 kilowatt. It will take 20 units of electricity for a full charge, which means Rs 100 for a full charge. With full charge, a car can run up to 150 kilometres.

The main drawback of e-vehicles is that it will take about one hour for charging it fully. But in future, technology might be developed to bring down the charging time.
