Chanthupottu, the 2005 Malayalam film directed by Lal Jose, has recently become a hot topic of discussion in social media. It was actress Parvathy Thiruvothu who started the discussion by expressing her disapproval of the portrayal of the film's lead character.

Now, popular transgender actress and model Anjali Ameer has come up with her views about the film through a Facebook post. In her post, Anjali shares how the film affected her life as a child. "Upon the release of the film, I had to go through ill-treatment from various corners of society. People used to make fun of me by addressing me as 'Chanthupottu' and 'Radha'. In fact, the embarrassment and humiliation caused by the film were so much that I did not want to talk to its director Lal Jose sir upon meeting him for the first time.
