CHENNAI: The crime branch sent summons to three lecturers in connection with the suicide of Fathima Latheef, a Keralite student in IIT Madras. The summons have asked three lecturers including Sudarshan Padmanabhan, whose name was mentioned in her mobile phone as being the cause of death, to appear before them by evening.

In the meanwhile, two students of the college have decided to stage an indefinite strike seeking an internal probe on her death. MA students Justin Joseph and Azhar Moideen will begin an indefinite fast. ‘Chintha Bar’, students’ gathering Monday morning demanded an internal probe before the authorities.

However, there was no positive response except the dean issuing a letter mentioning that an outside agency could intervene on the mental health of the students.

Abdul Latheef, father of Fathima Latheef, held a lecturer responsible for his daughter’s suicide. He later said that he will he will be forced to reveal many things if those responsible for the death of his daughter are not arrested.
