Earlier, the representatives of the Kerala Producers Association had pointed out the increasing trend of drug abuse among the younger generation of Malayalam actors. Following this, several film personalities including actor Baburaj came up supporting this allegation. Now, Yuva Morcha state secretary Sandeep G Varier has come up with a Facebook post regarding the topic.
According to Sandeep, both the producers and the young actors are to be equally blamed for the lack of discipline in the film industry. He asks whether this was the first time that the producers came to know about the drug abuse in the cinema field. While the younger actors are getting addicted to drugs, the producers get involved in casting couch and other atrocious acts, he added.
His post reads- 'Is it the first time that they are coming to know about drug abuse in the film industry? Wasn't it a prominent director-producer-actor couple who made a film that glorified the use of cannabis? Who doesn't know that it was this film which turned thousands of youngsters into drug addicts? The so-called cultural leaders of Kerala only seem to have a problem when Mohanlal enacts a drinking scene in his films. While the young actors are getting involved in drugs, aren't the producers getting involved in casting couch and other such atrocious activities? It is not right to blame the actors alone for such a situation. Both the producers and actors are equally responsible for the lack of discipline in the cine field.'
