Man hacks wife to death in Thrissur

THRISSUR: A man hacked his wife to death at Cheruthuruthy in the district. The man identified as Mohanan murdered his wife Chitra (48), last night. He fled the place after committing the murder. A search has been intensified to trace Mohanan.

Chitra was staying in her own house estranged from her husband. He reached her home last night and a dispute broke out between the two. When the situation turned worse, he hacked her to death. Only Chitra’s mother was at home at the time of the incident. Though those staying nearby rushed to the house hearing their cries, Mohanan fled from there in his car. Chitra sustained serious injuries on her neck and chest. Though she was taken to the hospital, her life could not be saved. Mohanan is a teacher and the couple has two children.

Police said there were constant fights between the two. Chitra was the superintendent of a Children’s Home in Muttikulangara. A divorce case was going on between the two.
